Farmers clashed with herdsmen in Akaeze, Ivo local government area of Ebonyi state on Tuesday with four persons sustaining injures.
While three herdsmen were left with head injuries, one of the farmers received machete cuts on various parts of his body.
The farmer is receiving treatment at the Emergency Ward of Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki(FETHA) while the injured herdsmen are receiving treatment at a hospital in Awgu, Enugu state.
Reports indicated that residents of the community have fled for fear of reprisal attacks from the herdsmen.
It was gathered that herdsmen from Mpu, Enugu state reportedly invaded farmlands in Akaeze and destroyed crops which angered one of the farmers who was attacked with machete when he confronted them.
The incident forced the state Governor David Umahi to ban grazing in the local government area until investigation into the matter was concluded.
Mr. Umahi, who summoned emergency security meeting with security chiefs in the state, leaders of herdsmen, local government chairmen and stakeholders of Ivo local government, later directed the setting up of 10-man committee to investigate cause of crisis.
“This issue is becoming complicated. I want the CP (commissioner of police), the Army and the SSS to set up a committee. It should be a 10-man committee to investigate the matter and we will convene another emergency security meeting on the matter.
“The investigation should commence immediately. But I am banning any herdsman from entering Ivo local government until this investigation is completed and I want the security men to carry out my instruction. No herdsman should enter the place, no cattle should enter Ivo local government again until investigation is completed.
“Security people, I want you people to note it down that any herdsman that is coming into Ebonyi must follow the procedure and must not ‘carry’ animals late into Ebonyi state. You bring animals by (via) vehicles and there is (are) no cattle routes in Ebonyi state. There is is no grazing reserve in Ebonyi, there is no colony Ebonyi.
“So, no animal should come to Ebonyi by routes, it is by vehicle and before they are coming, the ‘Ardo’ they are coming from should do a letter that they are coming in here. You cannot come into somebody’s farm without his permission, you can’t do that,” he said.
He said there would be no sacred cows in the matter.
“Anybody that kills the cows of a Fulani man, should go to prison for one year and also pay for the cattle.
Any Fulani man that destroys the farm of a farmer, will go to prison for one year and pay for the cost of the farmland,” Mr. Umahi stated.
Meanwhile, Governor Umahi has assented to the bill passed by the State House of Assembly creating two additional autonomous communities in the the war torn Ezza/Ezilo community.
Mr. Umahi while assenting to the bill expressed happiness with the speedy passage of the bill by the State House of Assembly, describing the law
as the permanent solution to the age-long communal crisis that led to destruction of lives and property.
Governor Umahi after brokering peace in the community on assumption of office created two additional communities from the Ezilo community which now has the Izo autonomous community for the Ezza clan and Ameze community for the Ezilo people.
Lady Uses Sex To Trap Lover Wanted For Fraud
A lady, Miss Mariam Amuche, has trapped her lover, one Destiny Ayo Adeleke, who specialised in using fake bank alerts to deceive shop owners after making purchases with sex in Lagos.
Mr. Adeleke went to a shopping complex located at Ikota in Lekki in the Ajah area of Lagos and bought Tecno Camon 8-pro phones valued N377,500. After they had agreed on the price, he claimed that he had no cash on him and wished to pay through bank transfer from his phone. He was given the company’s account details to credit the said amount. He pretended that he had credited their account and showed an account debit alert from Zenith Bank account number 2110746005 bearing his name. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the owner of the outlet did not doubt him because he had already introduced himself as a legal practitioner. So he released the items to him and requested for his phone number.
However, it was later discovered that the bank alert was fake. When the owner of the outlet contacted the phone number which Adeleke had dropped, it was unreachable and the account number was said to be nonexistent.
The scam was then reported to police operatives at FSARS and in connection with the police in the area they located Adeleke’s lover. His lover, Mariam, was apprehended and was asked to help locate the suspect. It was gathered that Mariam then contacted Adeleke, pretended that she was having a strong feeling for sex and wanted to meet him to satisfy her emotions. Adeleke fell into the trap and was arrested by the police operatives upon his arrival.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, who paraded him at the State Command. The police boss said that the police recovered some exhibits which included lawyers’ gown and wig, 2 Tecno phones, One iPhone and 10 sim cards belonging to different networks. The CP said that during interrogation Adeleke confessed to the crime and said that he had sold the phones to buyers he met online.
Edgal said investigatiosn were still going on to understand the suspect’s modus operandi and to unravel the crimes he may have committed with the various sim cards recovered from him. He said that the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations.
“She Wants To Kill Me With Children. She Gives Birth Like Rabbits” – Man Divorces Wife
A 39-year-old man has divorced his wife after accusing her of giving birth to too many children like a “rabbit”.
Michael Ayinde dragged his wife, Glory, to court seeking the annulment of their marriage with the explanation that she has a penchant for unbridled procreation.
The couple had been married for nine years, however, their union has now come to an end over what many would find as a comical issue.
The presiding officer of the Igando Customary Court, Akin Akinniyi, said the marriage hit the rocks after the responded failed to appear in court.
“Throughout the duration of this case, the respondent (Glory) refused to honour court processes.
“Therefore, the court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage; the court hereby pronounce the marriage between Mr. Michael Ayinde and Mrs. Glory Ayinde dissolved.
“Both parties henceforth cease to be husband and wife and are free to go their separate ways without any hindrance or molestation,” Mr. Akinniyi ruled.
Earlier, Mr. Ayinde told the court that he wanted a divorce because his wife’s constant reproduction had become a burden for him due to the harsh economic conditions.
According to him, Glory has had six children within the nine-year duration of their marriage.
“Before I married Glory, I warned her that I needed only two kids irrespective of their gender so that I can afford their upkeep. She agreed only for her to discard the agreement after marriage.
“My wife wants to kill me with children. She is giving birth to children like rabbits. In nine years, she has delivered six babies.
“She was sacked from her workplace just because she gets pregnant immediately after she resumes from maternity leave,’’ he added.
Student barks like a dog after being raped by Mallam
A female student from Bariga in Nigeria’s Lagos is reported to have been barking like a dog for several days now, after a Muslim Cleric forcibly had sex with her as part of a supposed “spiritual cleansing to avert imminent death”.
Mustapha Hammed intimidated the suspect by telling her that he had a vision in which he saw death hanging around her, » and she would die in 24 hours unless he performed spiritual cleansing on her.
Fearing to lose her life, the victim gave her consent to the supposed spiritual cleansing, but the 23-year-old Mallam rapped her in the process and reportedly used a certain cloth to wipe the blood.
Since then, the victim has reportedly been barking like a dog.
Bariga police commander, Imohimi Edgal confirmed the development to newsmen on Monday, after the arrest of the suspect.
He said: “On July 12, 2018, a case of sexual assault by penetration was brought from Bariga Police Station to Gender Section for further investigation. The suspect, Mustapha Hammed who claims to be an Alfa was introduced to the survivor through a mutual friend.
“The Alfa deceived the victim that he saw in a vision that she was going to die within 24 hours. He took the girl to Ikorodu, Lagos for cleansing so that she would not die.
“At Ikorodu, he forcefully had carnal knowledge of the girl said to be a virgin as at then. He thereafter allegedly wiped off her blood with a white handkerchief and since then, her father alleged that the girl has been behaving abnormally because she was completely devastated and traumatized by the incident”.
Meanwhile, among all the claims levelled against Mustapha Hammed he admitted to all of them, including raping the victim. He however denied wiping the blood with a cloth.
He confessed to newsmen: “I told her (victim) that during divination, I saw that she had a spiritual husband. She confirmed it and said that had been the cause of her problem. I told her she would need to undergo spiritual cleansing in my house at Ikorodu.
“I instructed her to bathe and pray three times. After the first bath, I secretly put a live frog in her water. When she saw it, she ran out to inform me. I told her it was a bad omen and that the only solution was for her to sleep with a man.
“I told her to call her boyfriend but she said I should sleep with her since he was far away.
“I did it because I love her and intend to marry her. But because she is my girlfriend’s friend, I couldn’t express my love for her. I did not clean the blood with a cloth”.
It is not clear yet what is making the victim bark like a dog.
