A policewoman attached to Zone D Command in Mushin, was beaten by s*x workers in a popular hotel in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos. She was allegedly trying to arrest the ladies while they resisted and then beat her in the process.
Sources report that the police sergeant identified as Ihuoma Njoku while performing her lawful duties made the attempt to arrest one 25-year old Cherish John who tore her uniform and bathed her with a glass of beer she was drinking during the scuffle.
It was gathered that the suspect and other s*x workers were angry that the police came to disrupt their businesses during the period they usually expected their clients in the evening. It was learnt that the police stormed the hotel to arrest the workers and they resisted.
However, everything became messy after the victim was attacked and the police mobilised other officers who eventually arrested Miss John who was alleged to be behind the attack and detained her at the police station.
She was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for conspiracy to commit felony and assault. She pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adedayo granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
Man Arrested For Stealing Neighbor’s ATM Card To Withdraw N2million
A 30-year-old man, Obinna Otigba, who allegedly stole his neighbour’s two ATM cards and withdrew N2m from her accounts, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused was arraigned before Magistrate O.J. Awope on two counts of stealing and illegal conversion of property for personal use.
Otigba, who resides at Ojokoro area of Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty, and was admitted to N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. Awope said the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, said the accused committed the offences from November 17 – 28, 2017 at his residence.
He said the accused stole the ATM cards from Mrs. Theresa Ajibade and absconded to an unknown destination.
“The accused, who lived in the same house with the complainant, stole her ATM cards and ran away,”the prosecutor submitted.
Ayorinde said the accused withdrew the N2m from Ajibade’s two bank accounts.
“The accused withdrew N2m from the complainant’s pension account and investment account, thereby emptying the accounts,” he said.
The prosecutor said one of the cards was recovered from the accused, while he claimed to have misplaced the other.
He submitted that the offences contravened sections 280 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 287 stipulates three-year imprisonment for stealing.
The case was adjourned until March 26 for mention.

The woman was said to have boarded a taxi going to Eleweran in Abeokuta area of Ogun State unknown to her that she boarded the wrong vehicle. She was forcefully driven to a dreaded area of Odeda where she was taken into the bush and held hostage.
The kidnappers collected her husband’s number, put a call across to him informing him that his wife was in their custody and that the sum of N2m should be paid for her release.
The victim’s husband who happened to be the pastor of a popular church in Abeokuta quickly informed the police. Upon receiving the information, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu gave a marching order to the officer in-charge of FSARS, DSP Uba Adam to go after the hoodlums, rescue the victim and apprehend the suspects.
In compliance with CP’s directives, the O/C FSARS led his men to the bush where the suspects were technically traced to, and engaged them in a gun battle which lasted for about 45 minutes.
At the end of the encounter, two members of the syndicate were shot and arrested but eventually died on the way to hospital. One policeman was also injured and undergoing treatment in a hospital while the victim was rescued unhurt. Recovered from the suspects were two locally made single barrel guns and four live cartridges.
After the success of the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu praised the gallantry display of his men. He enjoined members of the public to always report any criminal incident to the police on time with an assurance that prompt actions will always be taken on such incidences.
Man Nabbed With $375k At Kaduna Airport
A business man from Kano has been intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service at the international wing of the Kaduna International airport, while traveling on board ET941 Ethiopian Airline to Dubai on a business trip.
A team of Custom officers on patrol, led by CSC Medugu Y.D. apprehended the suspect, Adamu Rabiu Muhammad, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at about 12:22hrs, with an undeclared sum of hard currency, the sum of $375,000 (equivalent of N135,187,500)
On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, he was handed over to the EFCC, Kaduna Zonal office, with the cash found with him.
